During our June
Mission’s Emphasis, Jay encouraged us to pray for missionaries in six
specific ways. Please consider the following suggestions as you pray for the missionaries with whom we have partnered
to support financially and/ or in other ways. Let these six ways assist
you when interceding for missionaries throughout the world.
1.
PRAY FOR “PRAY-ERS”: Ask God to raise up a greater number of
people who would pray more fervently and tenaciously for Missions. The
Lord indicates that if we ask anything according to His will, He will
answer. What is more in accord with the Lord’s will than fervent prayer
by the body of Christ for the work of missionaries?
2. PRAY “BIG/HUGE”: Is it not wise to pray according to God’s
revelation of Himself?
Ephesians 3:20-21:
Now to Him
who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in
the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever.
Amen.
It is good to make our prayer requests so huge that God’s character is
revealed in great glory. Let us therefore pray not merely for spiritual
fruit through their ministries, but also for “hoards” of new believers,
believers from every nation/people group, entire people groups in the
Santa Ynez Valley, all of our unsaved children, all of our unsaved
relatives, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and every person we know in
the community, etc.
Let’s make gargantuan requests of our almighty God while Also praying
very specifically/particularly. “Lord save Everyone in the Valley, and
my friend who is coming over this evening to have dinner with our
family.” “Dear Father, please save everyone within Dr. Revtov’s sphere
of ministry-Eurasia.” “O Jesus, make my boss so deeply aware of his sin
and Your sacrifice on the cross that he embraces You in salvation with
humble and profound gratitude.”
3. PRAY FOR
GOD’S GREAT COMMISSION DIRECTION:
Pray for God to give wisdom to missionaries so that they know where they
should take the light of the gospel into the darkness. Ask the Lord to
send missionaries to those prepared by the Holy Spirit to respond to the
gospel in saving faith. Pray for the Lord to guide missionaries to know
with confidence the people whom they are to disciple.
4. PRAY FOR THE
LORD’S PROTECTION AGAINST DISCOURAGEMENT: The demonic realm is passionately at was against
missionaries. Let us pray for divine protection against the schemes of
Satan knowing personally how often He seeks to discourage believers. It
is clear that missionaries are the special targets of attacks from the
powers of darkness.
5. PRAY THAT MISSIONARIES DO NOT LOSE THEIR “PLATFORM” TO
PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL: Pray for protection
against false accusations, gossip, political oppositions, marital
strife, problems With their children, personal sin, a lack of wisdom,
etc.
6. PRAY THAT MISSIONARIES WOULD WORK THEMSELVES OUT OF A JOB:
Ask your God to build up the disciple to become the discipler of others. |
