I
praise God that each year so many within our Church family give
sacrificially of their time during the busy Holiday Season.
Need For Volunteers:
We do have a need for
volunteers this year. If you can help with any of these ministries
either as a helper or in a leadership role, please contact Steve
Heath or Brett Jones.
Thanksgiving Service:
We will be celebrating Thanksgiving during the AM and PM services on
Sunday, November 20. The evening service will begin at 6 pm and is a
much different format that what our congregation is used to during
our AM services. The Word will be preached, but time will be
preserved to allow for extra special music, corporate praise and
prayer, and the reading of the "leaves" of our traditional
Thanksgiving Tree.
Operation Christmas Child:
This ministry is taking place right now. Instructions are on the
table in the back of the sanctuary.
Due date: Sunday evening, November 20.
Angel Tree: Dorothy Ornee has
once again volunteered to oversee Angle Tree (688-4339). Details are
forthcoming.
Missionary Christmas Cards: One
of the most critical roles we are to play is to encourage the morale
of missionaries who are separated from their family, country, and
friends on the "front lines" of spiritual battle. Pat Fisher is in
charge of this important ministry. November 27 is the deadline to
place your greetings in the boxes located in the foyer.
Missionary Christmas Gifts:
There will be a basket on the Holiday Table to collect funds toward
Missionary Christmas gifts. It is our plan to send monetary gifts to
the Kleis, James, and Smith families.
Church Decorating & Pizza -- Sunday,
November 27: Harriet Heath is in charge of this ministry. We
will meet at the Church at 4 pm, decorate, and then share pizza.
Lutheran Home Christmas Service --
Sunday, December 4: At 4 pm our monthly worship service
will take place at the Lutheran Home. Please pray for Jay Fisher who
will be preaching the Christmas message and Janette Swanson who will
be leading the Children's Choir.
Evening Mid-Week Prayer Meetings:
We plan to meet in Los Alamos at Marilyn Park's home on
Wednesday, December 7, at 7 pm and at the Church on
Wednesday, December 14, at 7 pm. I urge you to make a special
effort to join us as we pray for the work of the ministry and as we
seek God's blessing on our outreach activities during the Holidays.
Child care is provided at both meetings.
Sunday Morning Church Prayer Meetings
-- 9 am: We will continue to intercede together each Sunday
morning, including Christmas morning. Our corporate intercession is
the most important activity of all since other ministries are
dependent upon the power with which God responds when the Church
calls out to Him for His blessing.
Meals For The Needy: We would
like to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners to needy
families. If you know of anyone who would benefit from a Holiday
Dinner, please contact the Church office (688-2012).
Christmas Caroling/Chili -- Sunday,
December 11, at 4:30 pm: This year we plan to sing in a couple
of Buellton neighborhoods. Afterwards, we will return to the Church
for chili, dessert, and fellowship. Don't forget to bring a
flashlight and a warm jacket.
Christmas Party -- Sunday, December
18, at 6 pm: We will gather at the Church for a dessert potluck
and then enjoy a special Christmas program which will include
special music, congregational singing, and a Christmas devotional
from God's Word.
Christmas Worship Service -- Sunday,
December 25, at 10 am: We will be gathering together on
Christmas morning for our traditional Christmas Worship celebration.
Please pray that many unbelievers will respond to our special
newspaper advertising and attend our service. Pray also for God's
blessing on the preaching of His Word -- that Christ will be exalted
and that the gospel will lead sinners to Him in saving faith.
Christmas Newspaper Article to the
Community: Dennis will be writing the Christmas letter to the
community. Pray the gospel will be presented clearly and lovingly
and that many will respond through His Spirit.
